I have a serious problem. After closing my laptop Dell Inspiron 600m, it goes into Standby. The problem i have is the laptop doesn't turn back on when i open it. I have to unplug the computer and take the battery out, put the battery back in and turn it on. It's the only way if i close the laptop before turning it off.

Please help me. I'll pay whatever it cost's to fix it. I went to Dell forum and they could't help me either. The warranty expired 6 months ago.

Thank you

Milton Gonzalez

RESPONSE FROM THE DOCTOR:

Hi Milton,

The answer to your problem is the following. The Dell Quickset has encountered some sort of problem and you need to run the Dell QuickSet Power Wizard.

The Power Management Wizard allows you to control and optimize your computer's power usage. The wizard will guide you through the various power management options and assist you in selecting the appropiate settings. After completing the wizard, everything should work and get you back to resume after standy or hibernate etc...

1. Double Click on the Dell QuickSet icon (QS) located on the right bottom corner of your screen--- (active icons tray).

2. If you don't find it there, Click START / All Programs / Dell Quickset---Quickset

3. Read and follow the instructions--- should be easy

When you're done, try out your standby and see if this corrected the problem OK? Let me know either way.

I checked with Dell Community Forum and I found nothing for an answer to this problem however, I found someone with a similar problem and left them with the same answers I left here. Good Luck and hope this ends your worries.

By the way, the charge for this is FREE

Take Care

Nelson
